Shed For Sale

Shed for sale

Have you been looking for a shed for sale and not found what you’re looking for, you’re not on your own and maybe I can help, so where shall we start?

Hmmmm....it seems as though there's quite a few to choose from across the internet and locally and maybe it's difficult to compare like for like when they've all got 4 walls, a floor and a roof and then just as many different prices! And wouldn’t you think if they were all the same we'd probably just buy the cheapest, but I suspect we most likely know they're not the same in every detail, so there must be benefits of buying from one supplier compared to another!

There are countless ads splashed across the addictive scrolling pages of Facebook, Instagram and all other social media and not forgetting the 24hr "instant delivery' options from all and sundry, where you can order, receive and erect within a few days, you'd think that we just need to press a few buttons, part with some cash and hey presto...job done!

It’s not quite that simple, is it!

What I'd say is put your wallets away for a moment and that also includes purses, as sheds aren't just for the fellas these days who might have been searching for a tool shed or potting shed as my Dad would have done, but these days the little pockets of real estate are wanted by just about everyone. Not just for storage but also for hobbies, work and much more.

The basic shed if that's a good description, are now available from sizes that could easily store a few garden tools and patio chairs, to a space big enough for a huge workshop big for a whole host of activities, ranging in all sizes from compact right up to gargantuan. You could easily fit a storage unit into the corner of your patio, with others taking up as much space as the average garage and more.

If you’re concerned about size and position, every planning department in every town will have rules and regulations for sheds and other garden buildings which you can always find at your local planning department, these rules are fairly relaxed but check them out if you have any concerns. Most suppliers will advise you via their Q & A pages but unless it’s exceptionally large or near a boundary there shouldn’t be many issues.

Let's take a closer look at a few examples and see if we can help in your search for the ideal shed, garden room or outbuilding and If you’re thinking of buying something more habitable like a log cabin, we can venture into sourcing the ideal product and a company to design, plan and build it for you.

Unless you’re looking for a bike store or something similar that houses a few smaller items, you’ll be starting off with a 6’ x 8’ shed and bear in mind that sizes are often given in feet and inches, although metric sizes are always available and will climb in increments as 8’ x 10’, 10’ x 12’ and so on. There are of course a lot bespoke shapes and sizes that you can have made for you.

My advice is not always to go for the smallest option, as it’s not surprising to keep ‘adding’ to your shed, much like we do with attics until there’s little or no room left and we embark on a grand sort out! Its not unusual to keep putting things into your shed only to find them ‘years later’ covered in rust and dust. Go bigger.

And it’s not a bad idea to have a ‘Spring clean’ and even if you don’t throw things out you have some recollection of ‘what’s where’ and whether you still need it!

There are a lot of different designs to choose from and the Standard is a Apex roof, the type that’s slanted down equally a bit like a house roof, then there’s a Pent roof, that slants down from one side to the other and an offset Apex a bit like a Swiss chalet with one half of the roof longer than the other, plus quite a lot of others that are bespoke.

Besides a door, the other openings are by choice which could include one or more windows depending on your preference.

All sheds can be made secure under padlock or some other type of security system to keep them safe from intruders and even the smallest can have electrics fitted for charging tools and equipment as well as bikes and of course lighting to a central point.

if you intend to convert your outdoor buildings into a gym or fitness room you can always insulate and soundproof with a little modification, which isn’t hard to do or alternatively have this carried out by your supplier or local tradespeople. It’s much the same for garden rooms where the usage is adapted to studios and garden offices with all mod cons including WiFi, water and heating so anything’s possible!
